Spaghetti with Red Sauce
(my mothers recipe)

2lbs lean ground beef
3 8oz cans tomato sauce
1 small can tomato paste
1 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp basil or a chunk of pesto
1 T butter
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 T vinegar
1 T sugar
salt and pepper to taste

Brown the ground beef (salt and pepper to taste) and drain off the liquid. Add the tomato sauce and paste, garlic, basil, vinegar and sugar. Let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes.  You can let it simmer longer as long as it's on low heat. 15 min before serving, add the butter, and parmesan cheese.

Cook spaghetti according to package directions, al dente.  Drain water off and serve with a generous ladle of red sauce.

Great with garlic bread and a fresh garden salad.
